Overview:
Presentations will include information on a continuum of practical applications, including the use of GIS for: planning; daily operations; mobile/tactical response; data sharing/coordination; larger incident support.
- Practical use of GIS to support daily operations for structural fire and EMS personnel
- Operationalize planning data to support mobile and field capabilities—getting actionable information into the hands of personnel in responding units
- GIS support for ICS: regional teams
- Lessons learned from significant events
Day One:
- Using GIS for decision support—Baltimore City Fire shares their experience with using GIS to assess the impact of station brown outs during tough budget cycles
- The Voice of Experience—Practical tips for implementing fire department GIS to support tactical response
- GIS Manager’s perspectives on supporting Type 3 Incident Management Teams, including update on NCR team deployment to Station Fire, CA
- Implementation and rollout of the new CAD system in Fairfax County, VA
Day Two:
- Case Studies demonstrate the value of GIS for public safety at large events: an officer’s perspective
- Current use of GIS for operational support in New York City
- Tour of the NYC EOC*
NOTE: The NJ State Fire Marshal’s Office will award Continuing Education Credit to New Jersey Fire Inspectors, Fire Officials, and Fire Instructors for this class as follows:
- 0.5 CEUs technical for one day
- 1.0 CEUs technical for two days
