Overview
The current global economic crisis has focused significant attention on the need for better coordination between US emergency response agencies at all levels of government. Federal, state, regional, and local, are challenged by the complexities involved in coordinating effectively to reduce the impact of natural and man-made emergencies.
Local emergency response agencies feel this urgency, at an unprecedented extent, as they seek to support national domestic Homeland Security goals. The National Alliance for Public Safety GIS was formed to overcome the challenges faced by local governments in implementing effective GIS programs to support the goals of national GIS collaboration and data sharing to support Homeland Security.
